It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. This is such a lovely time of the year with millions of people gathering presents, planning family time, and more. However, there are some people who may not have the holiday spirit because of reality. Reality of not having a family or much family, not having the money to buy presents, or the reality of just not being in the holiday mood. We do know that for both, Stress could become an issue and depression is common during the holidays. We have some ways that we can help you cope with holiday anxiety and stress. Here are some things you can do:
Exercise
Get plenty of rest
Find time to visit with friends
Have some fun
Develop a holiday budget, stick to it
Use a calendar to plan specific days for shopping, baking, and visiting friends
Get some fresh air
Take breaks, spend some time by yourself if you can
Keep a regular pattern with meals, limit your alcohol
Get support if you need it
During this time, Gracious Hearts Home Care can assist with companionship. We can also do respite care for the families in need of a break or allow you to go out of the home while keeping your family member safe at home.
